I am a Texas Education Policy Institute (TEPI) Fellow who has trained, testified, and presented before selected members of the Texas Senate and House of Representatives. I have advocated in the 85th, 86th, and 87th Legislations for equity in education, closure of the digital divide, adequate WiFi and Broadband along with sustainable energy with the usage of technology for teachers, their students, and the school district's administration. I have worked in the field of education for over 22 years.
I was born in Louisiana in 1968, and in 1969, my father moved my mother and I to Houston, Texas, in pursuit of a better quality of life for his young family. My sister was born the following year in 1970 and tragically in 1973, my father lost his life to an on-the-job fatality. My mother moved back to Louisiana and her father, my grandfather, helped to move us to Beaumont, Texas. Growing up in Beaumont, Texas, in 1973, I went to Fletcher Elementary from kindergarten through the fifth grade, David Crockett, Jr. High, and I graduated from Beaumont Charlton Pollard High School in 1986. I married my childhood sweetheart, Mr. Eric Todd Weber, Sr., who was in the U. S. Army. We have been together since 1983 and married for over 33 years. We have two daughters and a son, a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. I attended Lamar Institute of Technology, Lamar University - College of Engineering, and Lamar University - College of Education.
Education has always been extremely important to me because, being raised without my parents, I found a safe place in school. My teachers were my heroes and learning from them along with my classmates was fascinating. I excelled in all core subjects and became an honor student in middle school. As an educator for the Beaumont Independent School District and an advocate for education in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, I have a unique experience and knowledge of the challenges that families face in the district. If elected, I will work toward an immediate substantial salary increase for all teachers in the great state of Texas. I will support classroom teachers, parents, and guardians in meeting student’s fundamental needs. This will include an incentive plan for all of the aforementioned to make certain that the student's' basic needs are being met. When a student is being educated, all energy should be focused on the success of the scholar.
Energy is an utmost priority when ensuring that humanity is being adhered to by guaranteeing that all requirements are being met. SE Texas is an Energy City area in which the TERC - Texas Energy Reliability Council has initiated a plan, which was formalized by Senate Bill 3, which focuses on communicative infrastructure. With the use of Technology, the organizational structure of the basis of energy can be operational which leads to sustainability in the economy.
Economy is the wealth from the production of goods and services of an area within a city where jobs are generated. If elected, I will strive to provide IBC - Industry Based Certification that will be utilized to provide jobs for the workers and their families. With the use of employment, the economy can and will grow.
